I went on to build the B-model of the 8043 excavator since the excavator was getting unplayable due to the weak batteries I had. Since I have heard that that the B-model is more playable than the A-model, I decided to have a go at the B-model.
The overall look of the loader is well... like a loader. It uses less parts than the A-model, specifically less of the panels which has stickers on the main model. There are 4 Linear Actuators in use; 2 to raise the bucket, 2 to tilt the bucket.

The rear has details such as the engine compartment, exhaust and radiator.

It is also at the rear where the battery box and the 2 infra-red receivers are located. Although the receivers are located neatly flushed with the rear of the loader, the way it is positioned means you cannot change the channel to remote control it. Just make sure you set the channel before you place the receiver there. Not a problem if you only have 8043 running around, but it will be a problem if you have another Power Function set with the IR receiver.

The battery compartment was designed with ease of removal as the combo picture shows. Just pop the radiator out, disconnect the cabling and you can slide the battery box out.

The threads of the loader is almost similar to the excavator but slightly shorter than the excavator. The threads are connected directly connected to an M-motor.

To my great surprised, it also feature a simple suspension!

The motor will move about with the threads as the threads move up and down.

The underside of the loader shows how the motors are connected to the threads. Since there are less gears to transmit the power to the threads, the bulldozer travels faster than the excavator.

The cockpit is very spacious compared to the excavator. It has 2 joysticks on either side as well as a huge dashboard in front. On the sides are wing mirrors.

Below is a video of the loader in action. As you can see, you can pick up objects using the bucket and it is very very maneuverable.
But how does it fare against its big daddy, the 8275 motorized bulldozer?

For one thing, 8275 has a waayyyy larger bucket than the little loader. It does not help it is also taller and wider.

Viewing from the side, 8275 proves who's the boss again. It is longer and has a rear extension.

But I am not only comparing based on looks alone, what if I pit the 2 against each other?
That ends my review of the 8043 B-model the tracked loader. It is more enjoyable to play around than the main model, although it is also less complicated at the same time. While waiting for the fix to the main model, why not give the B-model a try and start loading stuff into trucks?
