    Details:
    Price: RM59.90
    Pieces: 78 (77sen/piece)
    Minifigs: 2
    Year released: 2009

    Box art:
    Front:

    Side:
Parrot were used as scale comparison.

    Back:
Show us the accessories included, advertise Brickbeard Bounty and minifigs.

    Content:
An instruction booklet, two packs of bricks and a Kraken.

    Instruction booklet:
Basic knowledge before assembling, building steps, comic, advertisement and brick checklist are included in this book.

    Accessories:
Here's the accessories included. Not bad huh?

    Animals:
Octopus and parrot. The parrot is poorly made nowadays unlike the old one which were properly coloured.

    Minifigs:
Two pirates are included and both side of torso are printed.
They mess up what is show in the box and the instruction booklet. I followed the one in the box art.

    The raft:
The raft seems to be pretty occupied with stuff, hardly have a place to stand.
    Random:

    Front:

    Top:

    Side:

    Rear:

Place to hang you musket is right under the scout tower.

And here the oar, to direct the flow of the raft. It is adjustable but limited.

    Extra parts:
    While here the extra parts.

    Completion:

This is the cheapest set to get an octopus figure. Adding up the accessories and parrot and minifigs, this set is not bad. Anyway I paid RM30 for it only since I got the TRU coupon. Grin

    Functions:
    -movable oar
    -hanging musket

    Pros:
    -octopus
    -extra sword

    Cons:
-box art different from building step.
-raft is very occupied with stuff

    Final verdict:
Playability: 5/10 . Seriously, this set is for display.
Design : 9/10 It looks like a raft with many things on top of it. Yeap pirates are greedy.
Price : 9/10 Considering the octopus fig and accessories, it turn out not bad.
Overall: 8/10 A set with new building experience, but is a little bored during the process and with octopus fig.

    Great review!

This set is the reboot of the classic pirate set "6257 Castaway's Raft" whereby there is a raft made out of barrels and parts of a ship. The only difference was in those days there were 3 pirates and a man-eating shark to worry about!

From the title one would expect a large octopus, but in Lego, even a small one is as deadly as the large one! They even build a look-out tower in case the kraken climbs aboard!

    Btw, can the barrel spin?

    The old set : http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=6257-1

Yup, the old parrot have better paint-job compare to the new one. The octopus thing is a good deal, you get a glow in dark one from Agents set.

hehe I love Pirates set! I love shooting LEGOs and make them look creative.

I bought a 6241(Loot Islands) 2 weeks ago.. I uploaded one but still not satisfied with mine.

I really wanted 6243(Brickbeards Bounty) set but why ah it's so expensive?  Sad

Ohhhhh... the pirate ship... Tongue... thanks..  I though that it was probably a midget compared to the many SW and huge technic sets posted on Bricksmal, so didnt really post it until now. Thought that maybe lala-san would want to see how it looks like.

Seriously... looks like the small area saved for the pirate ship won't fit the Imperial Armada coming out next year.......

Say bobby-san, do you have a pirate collection of your own? I'd like to see... especially the older sets ( there were pirate and armada ships back then already....O_O!!)
