This set was among the vintage lot I recently acquired. The beauty of this lot was that some sets came with the original boxes, instructions and even catalogs still in good condition!  Shocked

For this set although the brick has some yellowing, overall all the pieces are accounted for (except for 1 brown suitcase, which has split into 2) and it came with box, instructions, catalog sheet and believe it or not, the plastic bag that holds the pieces!

I have to wash all the pieces before doing this review, and have already washed the majority of the sets I have acquired as it was dusty. Expect more reviews to come!

The Gas N' Go Flyer is a single seater aircraft used for recreation as it is easy to fly and maintain. It is also a favorite among news anchors in which mounting a camera or any surveillance equipment is easy without any heavy modifications.

At a local airstrip just outside Lego City, a pilot impatiently waits for his plane to be refueled. It's a busy day, and the technician from the Octan fuel company is giving his best to ensure everyone has enough fuel.

    Set Info

Set Name: Gas N' Go Flyer
    Set Number: 6341
    Number of pieces: 106
    Year Released: 1994

    Box

The box is has blue trim and the front is showing the jet being fueled up by the Octan tanker. Notice how much it costs back in 1994; RM 23.90 for 106 pieces is roughly 22 sens per piece. Now the price of an average City set is more than triple of that!

The rear of the box shows the alternate models you can build with all the pieces. From a plane you have a camera stand, a boat and 2 other planes.

The underpart of the box shows it is made in Denmark! Also got the old distributor's sticker.

    Instructions

The front page of the instruction booklet is the same as the front of the box.

A random page showing the placement of the camera and the engine.

At the rear of the booklet is a scene with the set. The booklet is printed in Germany!

    The build

The build starts off with the little Octan tanker and its occupant.

This is followed by the aircraft starting from the fuselage to the wings and landing gear.

    Minifigure

We get 2 minifigures in this set; 1 pilot with a black torso and white pants and an Octan worker with green pants. Only the front have printing.

    Little Octan tanker

The Octan tanker is a small vehicle using a 4 stud-wide vehicle base. The tank isn't really that big, making it ideal for refuelling light aircraft such as the one featured in this set. There are 2 Octan stickers to cover the tank area.

At the rear of the tanker is a fuel hose with nozzle. The nozzle fits into the minifigure's hands and is connected to a white brick with headlight.

Another white brick with headlight (that's what the brick is called) is used to keep the nozzle when not in use.

    The aircraft

Ready for take-off, the aircraft is a single seater top winged signle propeller aeroplane with twin tails.

The cockpit is large enough to accommodate a single minifigure comfortably. The seat has a headrest for those long flights.  A printed sloped brick forms the control panel. A camera is attached to the side of the aircraft with a plate with handle.

Looking from the side, the aircraft have 3 wheels, 2 for the rear and 1 at the front. The front wheel is mounted on a turntable to steering. The large sloped window forms the cabin for our pilot.

At the rear is a large 4 blade propeller connected to the fuselage of the aircraft. Noticed the rear lights under the vertical stabilizers on the tail.

A closer look at the propeller.

    Refuelling

After a day of flying, our Octan friend is willing and able to refuel the aircraft again.

    Conclusion

Design: 8/10 A simple 1 seater aircraft with a large prop at the back. The little Octan tanker is cute too.

Minifigures: 7/10 The pilot could have some unique printing on his torso, but his head and helmet makes up for that.

Parts: 8/10 Lots of great MOC pieces like the wings, propeller and the large window piece.

Price: 8/10 At RM 23.90, the RM to piece ratio was more affordable back then.

Conclusion: 8/10 A great little plane set with a little tanker to refuel the plane.

    Extras!

This set also happens to include a piece of the 1994 catalog! On one side is the Town scene showing sets like Century Skyway and the 6666 ambulance.

The other side showing sets from Space, Castle, Pirates, Paradisa etc.

What I find odd was how the previous owner opened the box; by opening the rear of the box! This kept the sides and seal of the box intact.

Yalah, Lego was cheaper back then.

Did you know that the box size is similar to the Atlantis Wreck Raider? Oh, the black box is the spyrius recon robot from 94.

Looking at the price, the price has tripled!!!! But comparing with the spyrius robot the inflation isn't that high.

Last time everything was made in Denmark. Now got China in the mix Sad

Wow bro... next meet, show me your new found antiques you told me about during the 3rd meet k...

Next, do us a review on Spyrius!! wahlau.... hahha.

Back to topic, I love the Mini Octan truck! The alternative plane design and mini swam hover seems better than the actual plane. There is a set I think from 2007 which looks similar (comes with a medical personnel and a sick man LOL). Won that in a Lego competition, so dont really know how much it costs.

This is the one I'm talkin bout:

Bro... i just rmbred seeing the spyrius set.....OMIGOD??? thats the recon robbot?Huh?Huh? WAHHHHHHHH  !!! .. say say.... say... you have this or not?

dang...  i think my cousin from JB gave me a spyrius set before... (as I still have the printed plate). I like the spyrius droid very much (with the transparent helmet). Just too bad, I cant find the fig anymore... I think i have the part to recon it. Looks like its this set:
